KMS Activator office key needs to be activated after the installation process of a Microsoft Office product is done. Previously, the activation was done by entering a Multiple Activation Key (MAK). Now, the activation is done through KMS in place of MAK thus it has now become possible to activate software products without having to enter a license key. It is a default activation process for these installation media. However, to make it work, one is supposed to use an installation medium form Microsoft’s Campus or Microsoft Select program. In these cases, the host computer must be running an operating system that supports KMS for each of the versions which the users wanted to activate. Moreover, one is also required to install the Office Volume License Pack for each version of Office on the KMS host computer and activate the key for each version of Office.

Configuring the KMS Activator host computer

In order to configure the KMS host computer to activate the office, the user should be a member of the Administrative group on the KMS host computer.  If the host computer has an internet connection, then the following steps should be followed.

Step1: First of all sign in to the Volume Licensing Service Center and download the KMS key for each product and version of Office that one wishes to be activated..

Step2: On the host computer, download the valid Office Volume License Pack from the Microsoft Download Center: Office 2019, Office2016

Step3: Run the Office Volume License Pack executable file. Running the executable file will install the Office Volume License Pack on the KMS host computer and also opens the Volume-Activation Tools Wizard.

Step4: Follow the steps in the Volume Activation Tools wizard . Enter the management service key when prompted.

Step5: If the system has a firewall, the users should make sure that port 1688 is open to allow KMS host service through the firewall. For this, follow the following steps:

1. Visit the Control Panel> Windows Firewall
2. Click Allow an app or feature through Windows firewall link
3. Click the Change Settings button
4. Select the checkbox for Key Management Service and then choose OK.

How to activate the KMS Office?

The KMS server is automatically found in many cases, especially when a computer is a part of an Active Directory Domain. If it does not work, one can easily activate the software manually with the KMS server.

1.Manual KMS activation

After the installation, one should complete the steps described below within 30 days if automatic activation does not work. If the MAK key is already entered one should change the MAK to KMS activation. In order to find the appropriate KMS key for the Microsoft operating system, the following steps should be followed

Step1: Log into the computer with an administrator account

Step2: Type cmd. Exe into the search field.

Step3: Click with the right mouse button on cmd,exe and select Run as Administrator

Step4: Enter the command slmgr/ ipk <KMS-KEY from Microsoft>. Using this method, one can easily activate the Windows installation using the KMS server.

2.Activation of Windows OS

1. Log in to the computer with an administrator account
2. Type “cmd. Exe” into the search field.
3. Click with the right mouse button on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator.
4. Enter “slmgr/ skms ug-kms. Uni-Goettingen. De” it will tell the computer the name of the KMS server.
5. Then type “slmgr/ ato” to complete the activation process

3.Activation of Microsoft Office 2020

1. Log in to the computer with an administrator account.
2. Type into the search field “cmd. Exe”
3. Click with the right button on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
4. Click to the directory where Microsoft Office is installed. If the user is running a 32bit Office on a 32bit Windows or a 64bit Office on a 64bit Windows enter cd/ program files/ Microsoft Office/ Office14 and if the user is running a 32bit Office on a 64bit Windows enter cd/program files (x86)/ Microsoft Office/ Office14.
5. Enter script ospp. VBS/ sethst: ug-km. Uni- Goettingen. De to connect to the KMS server.
6. Finally, enter cscript ospp. VBS/act to complete the activation process.

4.Activation of Microsoft Office 2013

1. Log into the computer with an administrator account
2. Type “cmd. Exe” in the search field
3. Click with the right mouse button on cmd.exe and select “Run as Administrator”
4. Change to the directory where MS Office is installed. If the user is running a 32bit Office on a 32bit window or 64bit Office on a 64bit Windows, enter.

Cd/ program files/ Microsoft Office/ Office15 and if the user is running a 32bit Office on a 64bit Windows, then he should enter “cd/ program files (x86)/ Microsoft office/ office15

5. Enter : script ospp. VBS/ sets: ug-km. Uni-Goettingen. De to connect to the KMS server
6. Finally enter script ospp. VBS/ act to complete the activation process.

How to verify the KMS key?

In order to verify whether the key is successfully installed and activated in the computer run the command: “script slmgr. Vbs/dlv all” from an elevated command prompt on the KMS host command. In order to view information only for Office2019, specify the Activation ID after the /dev parameter.
